Dr Christian Jessen

Dr Christian graduated in 2000 from UCL, having trained in general medicine, infectious disease, travel medicine and sexual health/HIV.

He then went to Kenya and Uganda to research malaria and HIV interactions in children. Back in London he helped set up a private sexual health and travel clinic and now works on Harley Street, looking after general medicine and sexual health patients.

Christian is passionate about his work and is always looking for new ways to educate people in health matters, particularly in tandem with health charities and other organizations. He is the Medical Advisor and columnist for Closer magazine and writes regular columns for Gay Times, Real magazine, QX and AXM magazine, and does occasional features in Arena, FHM and Men’s Health.

Christian is truly excellent at explaining and writing about different aspects of medicine and health to make it both interesting and understandable. His first book Supersize vs Superskinny (Channel 4 Books 2008) accompanies his popular television series of the same name.

Christian’s television work also includes popular prime-time series “Embarrassing Illnesses” (Channel 4), “Finding God” - where he looked after Jack Osborne during his travels through India (Channel 4), “Sex in Court” (E4), and he was featured in the documentary “Harley Street”. He was the medical expert on “Skinny Celebrities” (Living) and has been a contestant on “Celebrity Weakest Link - 999 Special” and “Ready Steady Cook” (BBC1). Christian is a regular expert guest on “The Wright Stuff” and “Doctor, Doctor” (Five).

Christian was born and brought up in London and lives there still. He enjoys foreign travel, and music and art are both passions of his. He is an accomplished oboist, performing publicly from time to time. He rides horses, works out and has even taken on the odd modelling job for various clothes and underwear companies.

He is a member of the Garrick Club and the Royal Institution.
